Jocelyn
Rose
Jocelyn Rose is a Registered Professional Counsellor and a Life
Coach. She has 19 years of experience working with people which
has given her a working style that is calm, clear, direct, uplifting
and fun.
Jocelyn majored in Psychology at Notre Dame University in 1976.
She realized that traditional Psychology was not her calling as
she struggled with the categories it attempts to place people into.
Her view of the world is one that encompasses much more individuality
and spirituality. It encourages people to find their own unique
“space” and a way of being, that nurtures
their passions, and is fulfilling to them. Her innate desire to help
people led her instead, to become a Professional Consultant, providing
Team Building courses and seminars to corporate clients.
Jocelyn
sees herself as a catalyst for education by bringing people’s
beliefs forward into the 21st century. She teaches them a “lightness
of being” by sharing and having fun, and does this with love,
humour, honesty, and integrity.
Jocelyn
on Relationships:
“Relationships
are going through an incredible shift right now. The old school
of thought doesn’t take into account the many challenges that
modern couples are facing. The Relationship Telecourses are a natural
extension of my work as a Life Coach and Counsellor. They also
provide me a wonderful opportunity to reach many people at once,
in a convenient, confidential, accessible forum.”
Jocelyn's
Specialization in STDs:
She became specialized in herpes after meeting Dr. Stephen Sacks,
who was a renowned virologist and researcher in the herpes field.
Dr. Sacks was the Director of the Viridae Clinic in Vancouver and
Jocelyn mentored under him there. This gave her the knowledge and
understanding necessary to enable her to teach people living with
herpes how to reach beyond the stigma and stereotypes they encounter.
She eventually merged her work with her herpes clients into her
existing private practice. Since the closing of the Viridae Clinic
in July 2004, she continues to work with other STD organizations,
keeping abreast of recent developments in the field. Read Jocelyn's tribute to Dr. Stephen
Sacks.
“I see the Herpes Resource Centre and the Herpes Telecourses
as much-needed resources. I am excited about the opportunity they
provide to reach more people.” She hopes to bring herpes out
into the open and to educate people about the virus, thereby reducing
the stigma and shame that surrounds herpes. Jocelyn’s knowledge
and experience is unsurpassed by any other coach and/or counsellor
working within the herpes field.
